Weddings, Honeymoons & Anniversaries

San Francisco Jet Charter arranges wedding, honeymoon and anniversary travel across Northern California and beyond, and in this region a great deal of it goes to wine country.

Wine country weddings

Napa and Sonoma are the destinations we are asked about most, and both have airports that put guests within a short drive of the estates. Napa County Airport (KAPC) and Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (KSTS) each close their towers at 8 p.m., so an evening arrival on the day before a wedding is worth planning rather than assuming.

Neither Napa nor Sonoma is a customs airport. Guests arriving from abroad clear at San Francisco, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, San Jose or Monterey Regional and continue from there.

Book around crush season

Wine country is at its busiest from mid-August to late October, when the harvest is in. Aircraft, hotels and ground transport all tighten in that window and prices follow. If your date falls inside it, book as early as you can.

Moving the guests

Where a wedding party is traveling together, a single charter is usually simpler than coordinating twenty separate arrivals. Above nineteen passengers the flight calls for an airliner-size aircraft operating under FAR Part 121 or a foreign equivalent rather than Part 135, which is routine but changes the lead time.

Honeymoons and anniversaries

For the trip afterward, the practical question is usually whether the destination has a runway that suits it, and whether the flight crosses a border. For international honeymoons, landing permits and customs authorizations are arranged after the trip is booked, and occasionally the timeline is set by the local airport authorities.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

San Francisco-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Tower hours determine the trips more than anything else. Only San Francisco International and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport are towered around the clock; Hayward Executive closes in the late afternoon, and Livermore runs weekday daytime hours with a short window on weekends. For an early departure or a late return, that difference decides the airport. Customs is narrow in this region too, with San Francisco, Oakland, Mineta San Jose and Monterey Regional the fields that clear international arrivals. Trips into the Sierra are their own case, where elevation and terrain shape the aircraft choice more than the distance does.
