Relocation Flights to and from San Francisco
San Francisco Jet Charter arranges flights for individuals and families moving to or from the Bay Area, which is a different kind of trip from a vacation or a business run.
Moving day is not a normal flight
A relocation usually means the whole household travels at once: the family, the luggage and belongings coming with you, the pets, and often a car seat and a stroller as well. On a commercial ticket that becomes several bookings, an excess baggage bill, and an animal in a cargo hold.
Chartering puts all of it on one aircraft, leaving when the house is finally closed up rather than at a fixed departure time. On a day that is already long, that tends to be worth more than it costs.
Pets
Animals travel in the cabin rather than in a hold. Pet policies are set by the operator and not every aircraft accepts them, so tell your advisor the species, breed and weight at the outset and we will find an aircraft whose operator takes the booking. Our pets page covers the detail.
Luggage, and what will not fit
Give us a realistic list of what is traveling. Relocation baggage is heavier and bulkier than vacation luggage, and on smaller aircraft volume runs out before weight does. Where there is more than the cabin will take, a cargo charter alongside the passenger flight is often the cleaner answer.
Moving abroad
An international move brings landing permits and customs authorizations into the picture. Permits are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and sometimes the timeline is dictated by the local airport authorities. On the Northern California end, only San Francisco, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, San Jose and Monterey Regional are customs airports.
Tell us the dates and what is coming with you, and we will work out the rest. Call +1-888-987-5387.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
San Francisco-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Tower hours determine the trips more than anything else. Only San Francisco International and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport are towered around the clock; Hayward Executive closes in the late afternoon, and Livermore runs weekday daytime hours with a short window on weekends. For an early departure or a late return, that difference decides the airport. Customs is narrow in this region too, with San Francisco, Oakland, Mineta San Jose and Monterey Regional the fields that clear international arrivals. Trips into the Sierra are their own case, where elevation and terrain shape the aircraft choice more than the distance does.
