Government & Political Charter Flights

San Francisco Jet Charter arranges flights for government agencies, delegations and political travel moving through Northern California.

Travel on a fixed schedule

Official travel runs to dates that are set elsewhere and rarely move. Delegations need to arrive together, often at short notice, and sometimes at airports that scheduled carriers do not serve.

Within the Bay Area we arrange flights from whichever field suits the itinerary. Only San Francisco International and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport are towered around the clock, which matters for early departures and late arrivals; San Jose runs until midnight, and the smaller regional fields close earlier.

Documentation and procurement

Agency travel usually comes with its own paperwork requirements. We keep the documentation your finance and compliance teams will ask for, including the operator and tail number on your itinerary before the flight.

Disclosure under DOT Part 295: we always act strictly as the agent for the client, never as the operator. We do not own aircraft, and every flight we arrange is operated by a certified air carrier.

Delegation size

Above nineteen passengers the trip calls for an airliner-size aircraft and no longer falls under FAR Part 135. Those flights operate under FAR Part 121 or a foreign equivalent, which generally carries stricter crew and operating requirements than both Part 91 and Part 135.

International travel

For flights crossing borders, landing permits and customs authorizations are part of the arrangements. Permits are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and sometimes the timeline is dictated by the local airport authorities. We will always do our best to ensure departure and arrival times meet your needs, but these are sometimes subject to the approvals of the local airport authority and government.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

San Francisco-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Tower hours determine the trips more than anything else. Only San Francisco International and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport are towered around the clock; Hayward Executive closes in the late afternoon, and Livermore runs weekday daytime hours with a short window on weekends. For an early departure or a late return, that difference decides the airport. Customs is narrow in this region too, with San Francisco, Oakland, Mineta San Jose and Monterey Regional the fields that clear international arrivals. Trips into the Sierra are their own case, where elevation and terrain shape the aircraft choice more than the distance does.
