Film Festivals

San Francisco Jet Charter arranges flights to film festivals for talent, executives and guests traveling from Northern California, including the region’s own festival calendar and the international circuit.

Festival travel is schedule-driven

Screenings, press days and panels sit at fixed times across a compressed week, and a delayed connection costs a slot that will not be repeated. Charter lets the schedule drive the travel rather than the other way around, including same-day returns where someone has to be back.

Mountain festival destinations are a particular case. Those airports sit at high elevation, where density altitude and terrain determine the aircraft choice far more than the distance does. Your advisor will work through what the operator can do on the day rather than assuming the aircraft that flew the outbound leg will suit the return.

Press, talent and privacy

Arrivals at a festival are watched. A private terminal keeps that manageable. Passenger details and itineraries are shared only on a strict need-to-know basis, with the operator and the crew assigned to your flight.

International festivals

For festivals abroad, landing permits and customs authorizations are part of the arrangement. Permits are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and sometimes the timeline is dictated by the local airport authorities. Festival dates are published a long way out, so there is usually no good reason to leave this late.

Only San Francisco, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, San Jose and Monterey Regional are customs airports on the Northern California end.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

San Francisco-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Tower hours determine the trips more than anything else. Only San Francisco International and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport are towered around the clock; Hayward Executive closes in the late afternoon, and Livermore runs weekday daytime hours with a short window on weekends. For an early departure or a late return, that difference decides the airport. Customs is narrow in this region too, with San Francisco, Oakland, Mineta San Jose and Monterey Regional the fields that clear international arrivals. Trips into the Sierra are their own case, where elevation and terrain shape the aircraft choice more than the distance does.
